Seamless Technology Integration for a Global Creative Agency in Harajuku

Client

Global Creative Agency (Name withheld)
Industry: Advertising & Brand Strategy
Location: Tokyo, Japan (Harajuku)

Technology Integration Project Background

A globally recognized creative agency relocated its Tokyo headquarters to a bespoke two-floor space in the heart of Harajuku – one of Tokyo’s most trend-setting and visually expressive neighborhoods. Known for producing high-impact campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands, the client required an office environment that reflected its creative identity, supported hybrid collaboration, and maintained a discreet technological presence throughout.

Challenges for Project Management

  • A tight construction and relocation schedule, with no room for delays.
  • An ambitious interior design concept where all infrastructure needed to be concealed or seamlessly integrated.
  • A globally distributed technical team with strict standards and expectations, based across multiple time zones.
  • A local Japanese design and construction team with limited English proficiency.
  • The need to bridge communication and execution between international stakeholders and on-the-ground teams.

mtc’s Role as IT & AV integrator

mtc was appointed as the lead partner for all IT and AV systems design, delivery, and coordination – responsible not just for installation, but also for project-wide communication between the client’s global IT leadership and the Japanese design and construction teams.

Scope of Work:

  • Full IT infrastructure design and installation – structured cabling, rack layout, network hardware, and Wi-Fi
  • Discreet AV integration across meeting rooms, creative workspaces, and content review areas, using concealed displays, flush-mounted interfaces, and low-profile control systems
  • Deployment of video conferencing and collaboration tools tailored to creative workflows
  • Coordination of bilingual communication between:
    • Client’s global technical and workplace teams (US, EU, Asia)
    • Local architects, builders, and furniture suppliers in Japan
  • On-site support for testing, handover, and staff onboarding

Results

  • Delivered on time and on budget, with all systems fully operational and ready for use on day one
  • Technology now supports creative production without disrupting the visual language of the space
  • Effective bilingual coordination ensured smooth communication, avoiding misunderstandings or misalignment between international and local teams
  • Client praised the result as a space that “feels right” for creative work – functional, reliable, and beautiful
