IT and AV Integration, Security Systems for a Space Technology Company in Tokyo
Client Overview
Client: Global Space Technology Company (Name withheld)
Industry: Aerospace / Satellite Technology
Location: Tokyo, Japan
Project Background: Supporting Innovation in Space Technology
Astroscale is a rapidly growing space technology company based in Tokyo, developing next-generation solutions for satellite servicing and orbital debris removal. As the company expanded its operations, it moved into a new multi-floor headquarters featuring specialized spaces, including a satellite manufacturing cleanroom. The office serves both engineering and administrative functions, with teams collaborating locally and globally.
mtc was brought in late in the project, during the final stages of construction. Despite the compressed schedule, mtc was tasked with designing, coordinating, and delivering a complete suite of workplace technology services across IT infrastructure, audiovisual systems, and physical security.
Project Scope: Full-Stack Workplace Technology Integration
1. IT Infrastructure Design and Deployment
mtc worked closely with the client’s international IT team to implement a reliable and scalable network infrastructure. This included server room design, structured cabling, hardware specification, and rack deployment across multiple floors. Special care was taken to meet the cleanroom IT requirements, ensuring secure integration between general office systems and satellite production environments.
2. IT and AV Integration for Meeting and Event Spaces
The client’s hybrid collaboration needs were addressed with AV systems installed in a variety of environments:
- Meeting rooms with video conferencing and content sharing
- An all-hands space for company events and internal briefings
- Easy-to-use AV controls designed for non-technical users
All systems were standardized to align with the company’s global IT and AV framework, with customized layouts and bilingual user interfaces to support daily operations in Japan.
3. Physical Security and Access Control
mtc also delivered a multi-layered security system, including access control for secure zones, CCTV coverage, and integration with the building’s overall security plan. Coordination was required between building management, general contractors, and the client’s global compliance team to ensure regulatory alignment and operational safety.
Challenges and Coordination Across Stakeholders
One of the most complex aspects of this project was the need to join the project midstream. Much of the interior fit-out was already underway, and construction schedules were compressed. mtc had to rapidly assess the status of IT and AV requirements, identify gaps, and integrate its systems without impacting the broader schedule.
The project also required extensive coordination across international teams. The client’s stakeholders were based in Japan, Singapore, the US, and Europe, and most project communication took place in English. Meanwhile, construction and local implementation teams operated primarily in Japanese. mtc served as the bilingual project coordinator, facilitating daily communication between the client’s global team and Japan-based trades, designers, and vendors.
Results: A Scalable Technology Environment for Future Growth
Despite tight time constraints, mtc successfully delivered a fully operational workplace across multiple technology disciplines:
- A secure and reliable IT network that supports engineering and business functions
- AV systems that enable global collaboration with intuitive, localized control
- A compliant and integrated security system protecting both general office and cleanroom zones
Since completion, mtc has been re-engaged multiple times to support the client’s continued expansion across five floors, proving the long-term value and flexibility of the original system design.
Ongoing Support and Future-Ready Infrastructure
Following the successful handover of the initial installation, mtc has continued to provide support and additional project services as Astroscale expands its operations in Japan. As new teams were onboarded and additional space was built out across five floors, mtc returned to provide system expansion, equipment upgrades, and technical advisory services. The continuity of support ensured that new installations remained compatible with the original infrastructure, both technically and visually.
mtc also assisted the client with the planning and execution of system lifecycle maintenance, including equipment documentation, firmware management, and replacement planning. This approach helps reduce future disruption and aligns with the company’s long-term growth and compliance strategy.
The success of this project reflects mtc’s broader approach: not just delivering hardware, but acting as a long-term partner with deep knowledge of both enterprise IT and AV integration and the specific demands of high-tech firms in Japan. From satellite development labs to executive boardrooms, mtc understands how to align technology with business goals, timelines, and global collaboration requirements.
Conclusion: Long-Term Technology Partner for a High-Growth Aerospace Firm
mtc’s ability to enter late-stage projects and still deliver complex solutions on time demonstrates the strength of its project management, technical expertise, and bilingual coordination. For organizations with demanding technical environments and global workflows, mtc provides an end-to-end solution that ensures both performance and ease of use.
